Maggieraye from Single Parent Homeschool sent me a massive e-mail get-to-know-all-about-you questionnaire. Since it took a while to complete, I thought I would get a little more mileage out of it and post the juicy parts here:

I “slept in” til 7:30 am because my 6 yr old came down with the stomach flu and I’m feeling it too. I still got only about 4 hrs of sleep.

Zathura - it was good except the snotty big brother was too macho to apologize. I hate that.

I enjoy that show that has William Shatner who plays an alzheimer’s lawyer named Denny Crane. I don’t get to watch it much so I can’t remember the name of it… Otherwise we don’t watch much tv - we unplugged it for a church fast last fall and never plugged it back in an easily accessible place - plus it’s just a little portable one (10′ screen) and I can’t see the picture worth beans anyway - even with my glasses on…

veggie delite with sweet onion sauce at Subway

13. What characteristics do you despise?

narcissism where people act in a way that they expect you to blindly adore them as they adore themselves and act as if YOU are the problem when you don’t

14. Favorite item of clothing?

oversized sweatshirts and my Birkenstock sandals

15. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go?

what is this thing you call “vacation”?

(seriously, I thjnk I’d like to go to Hawaii if it’s not as fakey as Florida)

16. What color is your bathroom?

mostly white/very light yellow in dire need of a paint job with red fingernail polish splattered all over the sink, floor and toilet in a way that resembles a crime scene. I accidentally knocked a bottle of polish off the shelf one night at 11pm. The splatter is so wide spread that I was too tired to deal with the possibility of smearing if I tried to clean it up, so I left it. Now I call it “art”

17. What is your favorite brand of clothing?

I really like Coldwater Creek (I often buy my mom’s Christmas gifts there), but everything I own is from Target or Kohls.

18. Where would you want to retire?

Anywhere near my family/grandchildren.

19. Favorite time of day?

Early morning, when the sun is up but everyone else is still asleep.

20. Where were you born?

Reno, Nevada

21. Favorite sport to watch?

none - but I do like to “play” racquetball and would like a membership at the Y, but I need to find a way to scrounge up $100/month in my budget for a family membership.

25. Coke or Pepsi?

neither - I used to drink diet coke, but discovered that the artificial sweeteners mess up my brain, so I have given up all pop cause I need as much bone mass as possible in the future - see here.

26. Are you a morning person or night owl?

both - depending on what habit I get into. Morning is best for my demeanor, but night owl is the default most times

27. What size shoe do you wear?

6 1/2 or 7

28. Do you have any pets?

2 cats and 3 kids

writer/artist/teacher

32. What is your best childhood memory?

Playing Kings in the Corner for real with my Grandma Edna and her friends when I was as young as 8 years old

33. What are the different jobs you have had in your life?

babysitting, trimming crew at apple orchard, the corner popcorn stand in my hometown one summer, kitchen crew, bussing tables person at the Branding Iron Suuper Club, I added totals at Cargill in Fargo one summer in college, dessert cook at a lake resort (Driftwood) one summer, 7-12 grade English teacher in an upper school of a total 56 students, clerk at a fabric store, jr high Humanities teacher at a school of 3600 in San Diego, writing teacher/entrepreneur

nope

39. Ever been toilet papering?

yes - my college pastor’s apartment so that when he came home from a weekend away, he couldn’t even crawl through entry way

yes, especially when he left

41. Been in a car accident?

yes - but no injuries and I continued to drive the totaled car until I graduated from college. My Dad euthanized it in a demolishion derby at the county fair.

croutons - msg weirds me out and bacon bits have tons

I like all kinds

51. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

some place that had lots of technological/electronic stuff - I’d buy an iPod and all the gear so I could get rid of the old stereo, a Mac computer for me, laptops for the kids and a tv with a screen I could see, and bunch of other stuff…

52. What do you most often do when you are bored? Maggieraye said: Bored is not a concept that I understand. I always have more to do than I do time to do it in. However, I confess, I probably do have times when I could be doing something more productive, but I choose to blog. That is my new favorite past time.

I agree - a better question would be what would I do if I had the time! - read even more books, cross stitch, water color, learn how to crochet

(Due to this question and #49 especially, I strongly suspect that this questionnaire was devised by someone between the ages 15 and 18.)

whenever we get there (often very late)

55. Last person you went to dinner with?

A whole slew of folks from church after worship 2 weekends ago. We meet on Sat nights and end around 8:30 and often go out to eat afterwards (I do more so when kids are at dad’s)

My Mercury is a Ford - I don’t recommend it - F.ix O.r R.epair D.aily, indeed - I’d go Dodge, BMW or Subaru or Honda or Mazda

Well, looky here, iTunes is playing “Harvest Moon” from Neil’s Unplugged CD… Now it’s “Hold On” by Everyone (when are they ever gonna come out with a new CD?)… Now its “God Rules” by Undercover 3-28-87… Now it’s “Irene” by Toby Mac - Momentum… Now it’s “Remain in Me” by Apt Core - Rhythms of Remembrance…

ocean - I used to live in San Diego and loved the beach in the evenings and before that Oregon. The Oregon coast is breathtaking.
